Patrol Task Organization
1. Assault Element – Squad size element (6-9 individuals) designed to conduct a flanking maneuver to exploit the enemy’s weakness and to destroy enemy forces on the objective. The assault element establishes a near support position to further suppress the enemy while the remainder of the assault element maneuvers on to the objective.
2. Support Element – Team size element (4-6 individuals), with .308/7.62 weapons used to suppress enemy forces in order to prevent the enemy from massing effective fire on the assault element. The support element must provide precision fire to suppress enemy crew served weapons.
3. Security Element – Two 2-person teams used to seal off the objective in order to alert the group of enemy reinforcements or the withdrawal of enemy elements.
**Assault Element is to be weighted with personnel and equipment to mass combat power and provide flexibility that is necessary secure the objective. Assault elements normally consist of additional breach equipment to reduce wire obstacles.
